This policy explains how K-Sync handles personal information in its Android and iOS app, its website at ksync-app.com, and its backend at app.ksync-app.com. K-Sync provides music charts, song tracking, news, notifications, and links to Spotify. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@ksync-app.com.

Information used to provide K-Sync

• Account information: when you register, we collect your email address, first and last name, and password. The backend stores a password hash rather than your readable password. We use these details to create your account and authenticate you.
• Tracked songs: we store the song associated with your account when you use song tracking, so we can provide that feature across sessions.
• Notifications: if you enable notifications, the app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging. Device notification tokens are associated with your account to deliver updates. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
• Local app storage: the app stores information such as your sign-in token, basic account details, tracked song identifier, language, theme, notification token, and app configuration on your device to keep the app working between sessions.
• Technical information: requests to our website, backend, image hosts and service providers reveal technical information such as IP address, browser or device details, requested resource and time of access. Hosting and security services may process this information to deliver content, diagnose problems and protect the service.
• Support: when you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond.

You can view the website's public charts without creating an account. Website search filters the chart already loaded in your browser; it does not submit your search text to our chart API.

Google advertising in the app and website

The app uses Google AdMob, and the website uses Google AdSense. The following disclosures apply when advertising is enabled on the relevant service, subject to applicable consent choices.

Google and other advertising vendors may collect or receive information directly through their advertising software. This can include IP addresses, approximate location inferred from IP addresses, device or browser information, advertising or other device identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, and diagnostic or performance information. The information is used to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and abuse, and, where permitted by your choices and applicable law, personalize advertising.

On the website, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize ads using activity across participating sites. Other participating ad networks may also place or read cookies, use web beacons, or receive IP addresses as a result of ad serving.

In the app, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may use mobile advertising identifiers and other device or app identifiers for advertising and measurement. The information collected depends on platform permissions, consent choices, SDK behavior and advertising configuration. Non-personalized ads can still involve data processing for delivery, reporting, frequency limits and fraud prevention.

Your advertising and storage choices

• In the app: Google's User Messaging Platform requests consent information and shows a consent form when required. The app checks whether ads may be requested before loading them. When Google requires a way to revisit choices, Ad privacy choices appears on the Account screen.
• On the website: when website ads are enabled, the applicable consent message will explain advertising purposes and participating vendors. Use the choices in that message and its privacy settings control to manage or withdraw consent where available. App choices do not automatically apply to the website.
• Google personalization: manage personalized advertising through Google My Ad Center. You can also visit the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page for participating vendors. These tools do not necessarily stop all ads or all advertising-related processing.
• Device and browser settings: use your device's advertising privacy controls, including iOS tracking permissions where applicable, and your browser's cookie controls. Clearing storage or changing devices may reset saved choices or sign you out.

Reading this policy or continuing to use K-Sync is not a substitute for consent where consent is required.

Spotify, news and other external content

K-Sync uses public music and chart information and links to Spotify and news sources. Opening an external link brings you to a service with its own privacy practices. Spotify links do not require you to give K-Sync your Spotify password. Loading externally hosted artwork or other content may disclose your IP address and request information to that host.

Why information is processed and shared

We use information to operate accounts and app features, deliver notifications, respond to support requests, secure the service, and support advertising as described above. Hosting, database, notification and advertising providers process information needed for their services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to investigate abuse and protect users and the service.

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, core account and requested features are processed to provide the service you request; security and service maintenance may rely on legitimate interests; optional advertising storage or personalization relies on consent where required; and legally required processing relies on the relevant legal obligation. Advertising-related disclosures may fall within local definitions of sale, sharing or targeted advertising; the available choices depend on your location and the services enabled.

Retention, deletion and privacy rights

Account information is maintained while needed to provide your account and associated features. You can delete your account in the app or at ksync-app.com/delete-account. The current deletion process verifies your credentials and removes your user record, including the account's tracked-song reference and notification tokens.

Account deletion does not automatically delete information held independently by Google, Spotify or other providers, or erase local device storage. Service logs and backups may remain for operational, security or legal purposes under the applicable retention arrangements. Contact us about information that may remain after deletion.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or opt out of certain advertising uses. Email support@ksync-app.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Exercising privacy rights will not result in unlawful discrimination.

Security and international processing

We use measures such as password hashing and encrypted network connections to protect information, but no system can guarantee complete security. Our providers may process information outside your country, where privacy laws can differ. Their policies describe their processing locations and transfer safeguards.

Children

K-Sync is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their account information. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. Local age and consent requirements may be higher.

Changes and contact
